Present Perfect and Present Perfect Continuous
We use Present Perfect:
- when we are interested in the result; the action is finished I’ve read the newspaper. I’ve done my homework |
We use Present Perfect Continuous:
- when we are interested in the duration of the action; the action is unfinished I’ve been reading this article. I’ve been doing my homework. - if the action has some kind of result but this is not the desired one You’ve been crying (Your eyes are red). I’ve been preparing fish soup (the flat is full of awful smell). |
