Past Perfect Continuous
We use Past Perfect Continuous (the past form of the Pr. Perf. Cont.):
- with similar considerations as we use the Present Perfect Continuous but the action takes place in the past
The had been climbing for five hours before they reached the top of the mountain.
I had been feeling sleepy all day so I went to bed early.
